Aware of its important role in the key economic development zone in the Central area Quảng Nam has mobilized many resources for development. Total social investment capital is estimated to have reached 5,215 billion VND in 2006, an increase of nearly 30 percent compared with 2005.
Several important transportation works have been completed including the Phước Chánh - Phước Công high way, the coastal tourism roads Cẩm An - Điện Dương - Điện Ngọc, A Zích - Lăng – Axan and twelve irrigation works. The province’s infrastructure development is to be implemented as follows:
Transportation:
In cooperation with central line ministries the province has accelerated the implementation of the national high ways 1A, Hồ Chí Minh, 14B, 14D and 14E, Tam Kỳ - Đắk Tô. It has begun construction on the Liên Chiểu - Dung Quất high way as well as work on roads 611, 611B, 607B, Thanh niên beach, Cửa Đại bridge and other roads.

For coastal infrastructure the first priority was the construction of Kỳ Hà port, including the completion of quay number 2 and researching the possibility of building a new 350m quay with the capacity for 12,000 dwt ships. Passages have been frequently dredged to enable the passage of 20,000 dwt ships and the logistic services system to establish a general trading port which is a precondition for the development of Chu Lai Open Economic Zone has been completed. Its now the main port of Quang Nam located around 10km from Đà Nẵng. It has a quay with a 40,000 m2 area and 2,000 m2 warehouse and a 30,000 m2 outdoor storage area.
For air travel the priority has been to expand Chu Lai Airport to carry B 747 – 400 aircraft, service 500,000 passengers per year and 500,000 tones per year, reaching one million passengers per year by 2010. In the long term, Chu Lai Airport will become an international cargo depot for the key economic area in the Central and regional areas.
The priority for rail development has been to improve and upgrade the rail system in accordance with Railroad development master plan until 2020 approved by prime minister with Decision No 06/2002/QĐ-TTg of 01 January 2002. Tam Kỳ, Nông Sơn and Núi Thanh stations are being upgraded and the signal system is being improved.
Waterway development has focused on the improvement and investment in key waterways such as Trường Giang, Thu Bồn, Tam Kỳ, Vu Gia, Ba Rén, Quảng Huế and Vĩnh Diện rivers. The priority is to adjust the flow of Vu Gia and Thu Bồn rivers to serve the public.

Hydroelectricity and electric supply:
There are eight large hydroelectricity plants and 30 smaller ones under construction and planning in mountainous areas. These include A Vương hydroelectricity plant with a capacity of 210 MW and total investment capital of 4,000 billion VND. It will be in operation in 2007. Sông Tranh 2 with a capacity of 162 MW, total investment over 3,800 billion is to be constructed. Đắc Mi 4 -Phước Sơn with a capacity of 196 MW and investment of 3,300 billion dong, Sông Côn 2 -Đông Giang with a capacity of 57 MW and investment of 1,100 billion and other small hydroelectricity plants like Khe Diên -Quế Sơn, Trà Linh -Nam Trà My, and An Điềm 2 -Đông Giang with capacity of over 10 MW are under construction.
The province has also cooperated with line ministries to comply with the sector plan as approved by the Ministry of Industry. These include high tension wire 110 KV, 220 KV Đà Nẵng - Dung Quất, Đà Nẵng – Thạnh Mỹ, line 500 KV Đà Nẵng - Dung Quất – Plâyku, the completion of the electric line 20 KV with ODA as well as the improvement of Tam Diep and Tam Ky power stations from 40 MVA to 50 MVA 2 x 25. Projects to build eight hydroelectricity plants following the VuGia ThuBon terraced electricity plan have been approved and following a call for investment, the construction of electric plant with capacity of 60 MW was made at Núi Thμnh in the form ‘Build Operate Transfer’. The province aims to supply electricity to 100 percent of districts and 90 percent of the population by 2005, and 100 percent of the population by 2015.
Post and Telecom:
The province is aiming for 100 percent of communes to have a telephone, a post office and daily newspaper delivery by 2010. By 2015 100 percent of the population will have radio reception and 95 percent television reception.
